MUSIC:

Tess Fowler is an Adelaide-born singer-songwriter whose unique sound blends British Neo-Soul and Pop influences. Known for her silky, yet powerful vocals, rich orchestration, and deeply emotional songwriting. Tess’s music is a compelling mix of tension-filled, cinematic soundscapes and evocative lyricism.

Before embarking on her solo journey as Tessa Bird, she was one half of the duo Sitara with her sister. Their debut track "In The Water" reached the 2013 Top 50 of the Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition. Sitara performed at prestigious venues, including WOMADelaide, and represented Australia at the BBC's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the Edinburgh Fringe. They also supported Macy Gray’s Australian tour in 2015.

Tess co-produced Sitara’s ambitious visual album Alchemy in 2017, a 35-minute artistic fusion of film and music. Tess seamlessly blends her passion for music and storytelling, creating visual, cinematic experiences in her music videos. In 2020, she began working with Grammy Award-winning producer Simon Cohen (Justin Bieber, Lizzo) at Studios 301 in Sydney.

Her debut solo single "The Heavens Did Protest" (2021) was praised for its poetic lyrics and hauntingly beautiful sound. Her follow-up tracks *"If You Want Me"* and *"Clockwork"* showcased her versatility, with one praised for its sensuality and the other for its emotional vulnerability, featuring a collaboration with Sydney Symphony Orchestra cellist Chris Piddock.

Tess’s final solo release in 2024 "I Guess She Breathes a Little Calmer" is a blend of Motown and James Bond vibes, captures her raw, soul-infused energy. Inspired by Etta James, the track powerfully explores themes of heartbreak and jealousy.
